Custom ActiveX Plug-ins, Desktop/Sidebars/Deskband/Explorer Bar Development
Most people who use the Mozilla/Firefox family of browsers are familiar with the term "Sidebar." For the IE crowd, the analogous term is "Explorer Bar."
Explorer Bars implement what is called a deskband interface and can be implemented three different ways: an InfoBand, Commband, or IE Toolbar.
Any Explorer Bar is a powerful way to have your control, windows, or custom control displayed within Internet Explorer.
What have we done?
One of our most requested items is a browser control that implements a web application while the user is browsing normally. This sidebar can implement several helpful items such as bookmarks, favorites, or other user information or controls. Sometimes they can be a feature of a toolbar or Browser Helper Object or simply a stand-alone application or control.
